This list is derived from the article's fact set; it is not a score. "Not assessed" does not mean bad; it means we did not look.

This review uses the source record dated 2026-09-19. Announcements describe that period and should not be read as current mint or participation invitations.

BITFOOTS describes itself as a collection that was ready to launch two and a half years ago and never did. The project said so plainly on 17 September: the collection was planned for Bitcoin through Ordinals, and by the time it was ready the moment had passed and the mint market was exhausted. The same collection is now opening on the Zcash side.

This article covers what the project says in its own sources, how the application works, and the risks that could be measured at the time of writing.

What is the project

According to the narrative on its site, BITFOOTS is built around the myth of a creature that lives inside the chain and leaves no trail. The idea repeated in the manifesto is existing without being seen. The project ties this to Zcash's shielded pool and writes that the collection could not have lived on any other chain, because the others leave footprints.

The site offers 18 character heads as downloads and says the team will be watching what people make with them on X.

The application side runs on apply.bitfoots.xyz. The page is built on signing in with X, and there is a separate section for checking application status.

What the project says

The picture from the project's own sources:

  • Supply and price. The site's FAQ gives the supply as 303 and the price as 5 dollars on the ZEC side, free and airdropped on the Ordinals side. In a post on 18 September the team describes the same figure as "technically a $5 mint price to cover launchpad and network fees".
  • Two chains. A post shared the same day says the collection will be issued on both the ZEC and the Ordinals side, and that a buyer receives both. In the same post the team writes that it previously paid 4,000 dollars in Ordinals inscription fees.
  • Where it will be minted. The site's FAQ points minting and secondary trading to zecbit.net on the ZEC side and ord.net on the Ordinals side. Neither address was reviewed.
  • Ordinals wallet. According to a post on 18 September, approved applicants must submit a taproot ordinals wallet on the application page; anyone who does not will miss the Ordinals .
  • Collaborations. On 17 September the team wrote that it is closed to collaboration requests and accepts applications only.

The vouch system

This is what sets the application apart. According to apply.bitfoots.xyz, everyone who applied before vouching opened, and everyone the team approves, carries two vouchers; a person who is vouched for carries one and can pass it on.

The page also states what that entitles you to: a vouch is not a reserved place, it only draws attention. The same sentence is repeated at the top of the vouch leaderboard.

The leaderboard is public and lists usernames alongside vouch counts. At the time of writing, the account at the top held 45 vouches and the first fifty accounts were visible on the page. At the top of the same page is a notice saying the team blocks alt accounts and botted attempts.

According to the results announcement published on 17 September, a portion of applications was approved and everyone who had applied up to that point earned the right to vouch for two friends.

Team and funding

The people behind the project are not named in any reviewed source. The only identifying detail that can be measured is the X account itself: @BITFOOTS_ is a verified account, open since March 2024, and at the time of writing it had 14.9 thousand followers.

The age of the account matters here because it lines up with the collection's story: the project says it was preparing to launch two and a half years ago, and the account dates from that period.

Risks

Biggest uncertainty No mint date appears in any reviewed source, and zecbit.net and ord.net, the sites named for minting, fall outside the scope of this review.

  • No mint date. None of the reviewed posts, the site or the application page carries a mint date. Price and supply were announced; a schedule was not.
  • Minting happens elsewhere. The FAQ routes minting and secondary trading to zecbit.net and ord.net. Neither site was reviewed, so who operates them and how they work is outside the scope of this article. Any mint link should be checked against the project's own channel before use.
  • Approval is discretionary. The application page itself states that a vouch is not a reserved place, approval rests on manual review by the team, and no scoring method has been published.
  • The vouch list is public. The leaderboard publishes usernames openly. Anyone who takes part does so knowing which account they took part with is visible.
  • No documentation. No separate documentation site was found, and no source explains how the collection will technically be issued on Zcash.
  • One address under the application site did not respond. At the time of writing, an address under apply.bitfoots.xyz returned a 404. The working sections of the site were read; what is at that address is not known.

What was not examined appears in the data status list above.

What to watch

  • The mint date and time.
  • Contract or inscription details for the ZEC and Ordinals sides, confirmed from the official account.
  • Who operates zecbit.net and ord.net.
  • The number of approved applications and how many places remain against the 303 supply.
  • The closing date for collecting taproot ordinals wallets.

Conclusion

What can be measured at BITFOOTS is this: supply, price and a two chain issuance plan have been announced, while the mint date and the infrastructure that will carry the issuance do not appear in verifiable form in the project's own sources. Who gets approved rests not on published criteria but on the team's review and on a publicly visible vouch list.

  • Two chains. Two realities. Same Bitfoot. Born free on ZEC. Born free on Ordinals. (Not exactly cause we paid $4k for inscription fees before but oh well) One myth, split across the multiverse. Oh and by the way. You get both.

Project's wordsX gönderisi· not independently verified

  • We originally planned to launch Bitfoots on BTC, through Ordinals. By the time the collection was ready, we were already late. The Ordinals wave had passed and the mint market was exhausted.
