ZecCat: a 3,333 piece Zcash collection whose whitelist asks for a transparent t1 address
ZecCat is preparing a 3,333 piece collection on Zcash and collecting whitelist applications through an X username and a t1 address. The project explicitly treats u1 addresses as incorrect; t1 is the address type on Zcash's public side.

This list is derived from the article's fact set; it is not a score. "Not assessed" does not mean bad; it means we did not look.
This review uses the source record dated 2026-09-19. Announcements describe that period and should not be read as current mint or participation invitations.
If you want to apply to ZecCat's whitelist, the short answer is this: applications are open at zeccat.com/apply and are made with your X username and a Zcash address. But there is a detail to watch here, and the project emphasises it in two separate places: the address requested is the type beginning with t1, not the one beginning with u1.
This article covers how the application works, what that address choice means, and what has not yet been announced.
What is the project
According to its site, ZecCat is a 3,333 piece collection on Zcash. The page says it is currently showing a single character with the rest still under wraps, and at this stage the project's only activity is collecting a whitelist.
The site also lists the stages: whitelist applications first, then the mint, the collection view, the user's own pieces and a creator studio. The page further states that no testnet mint took place and that mainnet access stays closed until the launch is ready.
According to a post on 11 September, the collection is coming on $ZEC and the application address is zeccat.com.
What the project says
The application and selection mechanics are set out on the application page:
- One entry. One application per X username and per t1 address.
- Two kinds of place. Randomly drawn GTD places and a first come, first served window. The site writes that supply is limited in the FCFS window and a mint there is not certain.
- No follower advantage. The page states this explicitly.
- A contribution multiplier. An approved contribution raises draw weight to 1.25x, once. What counts as an approved contribution is not defined on the page.
- A four step form. Answers are said to be kept between steps.
There is also a separate status checker showing an applicant's allocation.
On 15 September the project announced that collaborations were open and asked those seeking GTD to repost and write their $ZEC wallet in t1 form. A second post shared immediately afterwards clarifies it: t1 is correct, u1 is incorrect.
According to a post on 18 September, application reviews have begun, and the project wrote that staying active works in an applicant's favour.
What the address type means
The t1 the project asks for is the address type on Zcash's transparent side. Transactions into and out of these addresses are publicly visible. Unified addresses beginning with u1 can use the shielded pool.
The project does not give a reason for this choice in any source. It may be a technical requirement; this review could not establish that. The consequence, however, is measurable: anyone writing their t1 address under a giveaway post has publicly linked that address to their own X account, and every movement of that address becomes traceable.
Team and funding
The people behind the project are not named in any reviewed source. The only identifying detail that can be measured is the X account: @Zeccatnft is a verified account, open since September 2026, and at the time of writing it had 5,125 followers. No record of funding was found.
Risks
Biggest uncertainty The mint date and price have not been announced, and no written criterion defines what earns the 1.25x draw weight given for an approved contribution.
- A transparent address is shared publicly. The project asks for t1 addresses to be written under giveaway posts. That publicly binds a username to an on chain address and makes the address's entire history associable with that account. For a collection running on a privacy oriented chain, that is a decision the participant has to make knowingly.
- The address choice is unexplained. No source gives a technical reason for the t1 requirement.
- The contribution multiplier is undefined. There is nothing written about which behaviour earns the 1.25x weight, so part of the selection rests on discretion rather than on published criteria.
- No mint date or price. The site shows both as unannounced.
- No contract. Since the collection has not been issued, there is no contract to examine either.
- The account is new. The account was opened in September 2026; the project's public history is measured in weeks.
- Collaborations run through direct messages. The project takes collaboration requests by DM, which is familiar ground for fake accounts speaking in a project's name, and anyone applying needs to confirm who they are dealing with through the project's own account.
What was not examined appears in the data status list above.
What to watch
- The mint date and price.
- The technical reason for the t1 requirement and whether shielded addresses will be supported.
- The definition of an approved contribution and who receives the 1.25x weight.
- The size of the GTD and FCFS quotas against the 3,333 supply.
- The collection's contract details, confirmed from the official account.
Conclusion
ZecCat's whitelist is open and its mechanics are written down: one entry, randomly drawn GTD places alongside an FCFS window, and a one time 1.25x weight for an approved contribution. The first thing anyone considering it has to decide, though, is not the mint date or the price but whether they accept sharing their own t1 address publicly alongside their username.
