ZEC Frogs: a free mint on Zcash and CryptoAlpha's 15 GTD giveaway

ZEC Frogs is a collection of 6,969 pixel frogs set for a free mint on Zcash. We partnered with the team and are giving away 15 GTD whitelist spots to CryptoAlpha readers. First how to enter, then the project.

How to enter the CryptoAlpha giveaway

The giveaway runs on X, on our @cryptoalphayou account: open the giveaway post and complete the steps. They are:

1. Follow @cryptoalphayou and @zecfrogs.
2. Like, RT and reply to the ZEC Frogs post. This is the ZEC Frogs announcement quoted in our giveaway post; the RT requirement is for their post.
3. Check out cryptoalpha.me and leave your feedback. That is our only ask: what you like, what you find missing, what you want us to fix.

Our giveaway post went up on September 14 and runs for 48 hours: it ends on September 16 at 14:12 UTC. We will announce the winners on @cryptoalphayou.

Even if you win, we will never ask for your private key, seed phrase or a payment; anyone who does is not writing on our behalf.

Why we don't ask you to RT our post

None of our giveaways, now or later, require a retweet of our own post. RT requirements mostly shut out larger accounts: nobody wants a profile full of giveaway reposts, and we don't do it on our own account either. An honest opinion from someone who reads the site helps us more than a retweet.

About this partnership: The 15 GTD spots came from the ZEC Frogs team; in return we publish this article and run the giveaway. The team did not approve this text, and the risk section is not up for negotiation.

What the project is

According to the application screen, ZEC Frogs is 6,969 pixel frogs living on Zcash's base layer (L1). The project says the mint is free and the collection is "shielded by default".

The team presents itself as the first frog collection on Zcash and says it is building its own launchpad and marketplace. Both appear in its X bio as well. According to its September 14 post, the launchpad and marketplace are in testing and audit, and documentation is "soon".

Mint

The mint time, phases and the page where it will take place have not been announced. For the same reason, it is not yet clear how a GTD spot will be used at mint. When the mint page is announced we will verify it against the official account and add it here; until then, any mint link going around is outside this article.

The project's own whitelist: Froglist

Separately from our giveaway, the Froglist application is open at zecfrogs.xyz; the project announced it on September 13. It has six steps:

1. Connect your X account. You cannot type a handle manually, and one X account can only be linked to one address.
2. Paste your Zcash address. Only a unified shielded address starting with u1 is accepted. The site says this is where your frog lands when mint goes live, and lists Noir as the only supported wallet.
3. Read the manifesto to the end. The page does not let you skip ahead.
4. Write why they should pick you. The team says a few real sentences are what they actually read.
5. Complete the tasks. The site's default list has four: follow @zecfrogs, like and repost the pinned post, quote it, and reply under it.
6. Take one last look and submit. Once sent, the application cannot be changed.

How many people will be selected, when the application closes and how selection works have not been announced. On September 14 the team wrote that it is going through the list entry by entry, profile picture by profile picture.

• The mint date, time and mint page address.
• The audit result for the launchpad and marketplace, and the documentation.
• When Froglist closes and how many people are selected.
• September 16: results of our giveaway, on @cryptoalphayou.

Conclusion

ZEC Frogs has set its supply and a free mint, and there are two ways onto the whitelist: the Froglist application on its site or our giveaway. The mint date, the mint method and the launchpad and marketplace the team says it is building remain the team's word until they are announced.
