Short answer

A public wallet address can be shared to receive funds or NFTs. On a public , however, its balances and transactions may be visible through a block explorer.

Never share a private key, Secret , seed phrase or wallet backup. MetaMask states that anyone with these secrets can control the associated assets.

Sharing an address for a whitelist

A form may reasonably request only a public address. Connecting a wallet or signing a transaction is not always required merely to record it. Read every later signature request separately.

Risks

Biggest uncertainty Posting an address beside a social identity can connect onchain activity to a person.

Posting an address beside a social profile can create an identity link. Avoid using a main savings wallet for every campaign. Verify the first and last characters after copying. No legitimate whitelist needs a private key or recovery phrase.

Conclusion

A public address is shareable but not necessarily private. A private key or recovery phrase represents wallet control and must not be shared.
